The huge success of the ALF sitcom made it possible for ALF to seek adventures elsewhere. He did so with two highly acclaimed cartoon shows.
ALF: The Animated Series: This Emmy winning cartoon, which aired on Saturday mornings, took us back to Melmac where we got to follow Gordon and his family members and friends on their adventures. The show premiered in 1987 and ended after two seasons and 26 episodes in 1989.
ALF Tales: This cartoon, which also aired on Saturday mornings, had ALF telling stories and act them out together with several characters that also appears on ALF: The Animated Series. The show premiered in 1988 and ended after two seasons and 21 episodes in 1989.
Below are some pictures from both of the cartoons.
Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue
Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue was a television
special that aired on NBC, CBS and ABC in the spring of 1990. The special included
a lot of cartoon characters, as seen on the picture above. ALF,
with his two cartoons and huge popularity among the kids, was a natural choice
to star among the many other acclaimed cartoon characters. The special was made
to warn kids about the many dangers of using drugs. It centers around the character
of Michael, who is using drugs and whose sister is worried about him. This is
where the cartoon all-stars step in, talking him out of using anymore drugs.
The special reached more audiences than those who lived in America, it also aired in Europe and probably many other places around the world. The school systems in Sweden even chose to show the kids this special in class. I saw it somewhere around 1992-1993, when I was in the first grade.
